    Hi Brian, good job on all the videos. I subcribed and like the vibe. I wanted to comment and add a bit of knowledge that you might not be aware. In United Kingdom, a recruiter from a recruting agency would not write the hiring company's name in the job description because they want you to apply through the recruiting agency so they can get their cut of money if you are hired. Once a recruiter engages with you about that job opportunity you are legally bound if you agree in the initial email communication, (which you must do if you want to proceed further with the application) and you are not allowed to apply directly to the job posting. I know it's weird but that's what it is and you have to go with it or exclude recruiters from your job search.

    Do you know any red flags relating to driving company's… it seem that companies are increasingly demanding that I break the law. Every best inclass companies are asking drivers to drive too many hours fudge your logs even work entire day without pay off the record. When you push back you'll receive a write up the next day.

    You already covered this in your video of the five red flags in job interviews, but I think this video is missing the discrimination based in sex, age, ethnicity and et cetera.

    That’s why whenever I see job postings that say “entry level, but all these bullet points *required*”, I just apply anyway, cuz no matter how beautiful, skilled, or cultured the HRs are picturing their applicant while they’re writing their list of qualifications, they’re still interviewing a stranger anyway. No applicant is ever gunna come ready-made so might as well just show them my drive and passion (in field I’m applying to) anyway.

    Jobs are sweeping the floor or stocking shelves.

    An avocation or career is entirely different and you don’t even need want ads. Should be able to use your phone contacts.

    Why not name names? I hear constant stories about bad experiences but the person posting won't name names? Why not? Isn't it useful to get the name of bad employers out there? It's like people refusing to discuss their salary. Keeping these things secret only helps employers and never the employee.

    I can see all of these red flags happening and it makes sense how bad employers could take advantage of employees in those situations. One after the other. But it also helps to see if you will be the one hiring how you can do better.

    No mention of what the company does and stand for. Looking for a "rockstar" <job title> with a fluffy job description. More talk about perks such as "free juice bar" or "working with a young team". Mentioning at the bottom of the description that the role could change at any given moment based on business requirements.

    So what if its a recruiter that reaches out on LinkedIn and they are from a hiring agency saying that I would match what their client is looking for, is that a red flag or are there reasons why the agency can't disclose who the company is? Is that part of the "Company Name" red flag?

    Here are more; a passionate individual this is also synonymous with a fast-paced environment which means you'll be stressed out. also flexible schedule or on call just RUN ! 🏃‍♀️ also able to assist in other departments, this means you'll have to be doing the job of more than one person and will be a slave.

    "Attention to details." – You make one minor mistake and management will start making a papertrail out of you.

    "Self-starter" – Your boss is probably a boomer who believes in "if there's time to lean there's time to clean."

    "Problem solver." – Same boomer boss probably says "pull yourself from your own bootstraps" or "bring me solutions, not problems" if you're stuck on something.

    "Rapidly growing." – Company is growing too fast and mass layoffs are inevitable.

    Hey let me pick your brain. Hows it going? What's going on here? What the eff happened? Would it kill you to put a little more effort into your job? I don't understand how this happened! I wasn't aware of that. Why didn't you call for help. I don't even understand why we have people like you working here. This is unacceptable! I will not tolerate this! You need to dig your heels in and make this happen.

    I'm in IT.. my last job was a 1yr contract. Got hired on after that worked there 8.5 years total until they laid off my entire team and gave us a 3 month notice and 5 month severance package. Not all C2H is bad. We've all worked with crappy co-workers..99% of companies don't know how to hire the right person..

    Someone asked me to review a job posting. I asked him several questions .
    1. An employer should not ask new employees to pay to work. Meaning if you require them have certs, insurance and licenses.
    2. The posting should not look like pyramid scheme.

    The job post spamming is EXTREAMLY annoying. It completely ruins location-based job searching. Some companies are posting jobs in every single major US city, and you only later find out where the position is actually located. Job boards need to crack down on that behavior.

    Problematic of a low salary offer is also that you can expect your future colleagues have low salaries, and therefore high turnover, low level of loyalty and productive vibe, low investmenbudget for quality equipment, IT, development.

    I work temporarily rn for local gov, at first I wasn’t a fan of it but it actually works for me now when you need experience and you figure out what you really want to do without the commitment. But like you said it’s not for everyone

    I interviewed a few months back for a financial analyst role that fit with what I wanted to do moving forward in my career. I connected well with the manager I'd be reporting to as well as the mentors that would help guide me during onboarding. Everything was transparent including what to expect for the first year on the job and my programming experiences. But when I took the assessment test that needed to be completed within 2 hours, I was baffled at how much they expected to be done within that time frame and the amount of programming knowledge you needed (which was clarified in the interviews to not be necessary as people who took on this role had no prior programming experience). It felt like this was more for a data science role rather than the analyst role I was expected to be. I followed up a few times only to not hear back which was a bummer. I was very confident if I had one more hour to work with, I'd be able to complete the assessment exam more thoroughly and had time to double check my responses.

    I guess this would fall in line with either the bait and switch or the unreasonable expectations.

    Is this a red flag in the hiring process? I had an interview scheduled Thursday and had to cancel Wednesday because of the flu and my wife having a covid test on Thursday. A coworker of hers was positive. I was concerned that; I was positive and didn't want to spread it pending my wife's test result. My wife was thankfully negative. The employer got back to me on the day of the interview, asked what time worked, and said they said they were willing to do a zoom interview in Friday's email. The time stamp on their email was 9AM. After being in a deep sleep until late in the day, I replied, told them the following week when I felt better and at their availability would be best.

    One of the things I did was to tell them I was still interested and apologized for getting back to them later in the day. With a weekend in between (they responded 24 hours typically), and no response from them, a rejection email from Indeed was in my inbox Sunday. Anticipated it anyway. Yesterday (Monday) I got an email from the employer directly saying they wanted to interview me despite being rejected for the job by Indeed. Had that weird Spidey sense and withdrew my application.

    1. A 24-hour response to my emails? We always checked our emails several times in the day. Sort of points to availability of them as a boss. We used to email and if an emergency, would CALL the boss in the field. It seemed hard to communicate with him.

    2. Why would you want to interview me after rejecting me through indeed? Did they hire someone, and they quit? Imagine having to explain that as an employer. Seemed like bait and switch or something fishy. I also had the feeling the interview was done as a formality for a job already filled. Maybe he was covering his ass legally. Too many bad things.

    3. Felt like I had to be there in person despite Covid going around and not feeling well. I gave 24-hour notice and had to suggest a Zoom meeting. Is it that he realized my being sick was an unprofessional or possibly illegal reason to dismiss me as an applicant?

    When I was looking for a job when I moved to Houston several years ago I interviewed for a job which was posted as an HR Administrator which was what my previous position had been. The job description was appropriate as was the posted salary range. When I arrived at the interview the interviewer started telling me about the job. It was NOT an HR position. She was looking for a Business Analyst. I told her I was not a Business Analyst but an HR Professional. I showed her the job posting and she said, " I keep telling those HR people I do not want an HR person. I want a Business Analyst. They do this all the time." I politely ended the interview. However, I had to drive an hour there and an hour back. I never would have applied for anything at that company again. Wouldn't you think that if the HR Dept. does that all the time, she would check out the posting before making any appointments? I figure I dodged several bullets.
