What kind of person is good at math? All of you excellent in mathematics what do you say it is? Those who closely know a mathematician, what do you observe of them?

Guys don't think software engineering/computer programming needs math. Most programmers only know basics of math and even that basic level is not helpful for them when doing programming. You don't need math for programming. Only you need it if you want to design something from zero and it requires some math BUT BUT BUT programmers have these tools available for free and they just learn to use them without need to know the underlying math behind those tools because these tools are designed for programmers not for mathematicians so again we don't use math (only – + / *) level. Even if you want to design advanced algorithms, you can do it with basics of math. Also if you want to solve complex problems using artificial intelligence, we use math tools by programming languages and we don't do that like doing on papers but just passing numbers and getting results fr the computer. Go and learn programming for 14 days and you will be surprised that math is not important.

Math degree here. Career…Lithium-ion electrochemical battery engineer. How did I get into that career? A very successful internship, a job opening at that company, and relationships built during the internship. I'm 9 years into my career.

This is my issue. I absolutely love math, but none of these sound fun to me. I want to stay away from money, statistics, etc, and work more towards calculus, and I also love the environment. What kind of job is there for me ?!

I earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (BChE) with a Minor in Russian, then a Masters in Math, then a PhD in math in 2000, then an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Biotechnology. I NEVER intended to teach mathematics, ever. I did teach mathematics, for 1 year, post-PhD, and I taught math pre-PhD for community colleges. Sure, I liked teaching. But, being a math professor has NEVER been my goal in life. I intended to return right back to applying my math PhD to a million different science, engineering, even legal-law problems.

Out of all these, only cryptography has any algebra, the rest seem to rely on analysis. In particular, measure theory and differential equations. What options are there for a mathematician who specialises in algebra?
