November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amOur recent Ryzen 5 5600 review & benchmarks show how itβs a good value CPU to consider right now:
Our GN Tear-Down Toolkits now have a 7-year (retroactive!) warranty! This is a great way to support our work, our reviews and purchasing of components, and get something useful in return! https://store.gamersnexus.net/products/gamersnexus-tear-down-toolkit

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amThanks Steve ^^
I don't understand people buying anything other than AMD. AMDs products are the best comparing price AND performance. Intel as well as Nvidia just pump up the performance, power consumption and cooling requirements to beat AMD and then sell it 80 % more expensive…

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amThanks for this great review. I bought the 5800X3D on crazy sale and sold my 5800X. For around $150 out of pocket, it was a drop in upgrade competing with all the new stuff. Wow. No reinstall of Windows. No nothing. Just swap and go. Ready to take on any new GPU I throw at it.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amIs there no one notice that the 5900x with lower core count, clock speed and boost clock has more power consumption than 5950x?

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amI think once AMD releases an unlocked 5800X3D, we should see many of those gaps close significantly since some games prefer higher clocks.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 am140fps difference in 1080p on the 5800X3D on TechPowerUp vs GamersNexus. Why is this??

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amAfter some time with the 5800X3D your non-gaming testing seems almost unsuited for this kind of CPU. It's a little hard to explain, but the tests at the end do not capture some of the in between workloads ( like gradle building) that happen when working where the 5800X3D is just unimaginable fast compared to similar CPUs.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amif 5800x3D is comparable to 12900KS then 5800x is comparable to 5600.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amI love your channel but why not having tested this in 1440p?

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amI think this is really cool but the "sweet spot" seems super niche; mostly pushing more frames when your already well over 100fps running at "low" resolutions so the GPU is not getting worked?
It's being positioned in a weird spot at $450. I think most gamers spending 450 on just a CPU would not be focused on running games at 1080p these days. Seems you'd be better off getting a 5600x and putting that money into a better GPU. Of course you can find situations where it may be fit for purpose but those seem few and far between.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amI think it also seems like a farewell gift to AM4 enthusiast users, from AMD.
It aslo means more folks are likely to stick with AM4 for quite some time yet.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amAll this really demonstrated is that the law of diminishing returns is well and truly alive and kicking.
The real super impressive sku's, in the "Winner's Circle" category, for both Team Blue & Red are clearly the i5-12400 and the 5600X & non-X.
If you've got any of these, you have a s#!t kicking cpu that punches well above its weight.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amThis is a genius move from amd. By selling a great cpu with good pricing they make sure the older Motherboards soll well until the new ones come out and they also are abend in every chart when the new tech arrives.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amsteve, pls make a cyberpunk RT section for reviews, because with RT GI the game also becomes heavily cpu bound. my 3080 can be like 80% utilized at 80 to 90 fps when driving.

November 9, 2022 - 2:43 amAMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
the 5000 series really was a good series, it's sad we never got a Ryzen 3 5000 series, that would've been a nice option to compete with the i3 12100, but out of these 4 i gotta say the 5600X still holds it's own for a 6 Core, and the 3700X still surprises me how well that chip that help up in heavy workloads. but after looking at this video, i gotta say if you haven't upgraded yet the 5700X is in a good position. in your benchmark charts, i noticed how close the 5700X was to the others, and when you look at the price it makes it really hard to ignore considering the performance your getting, on top of good power consumption. so if you do like heavy workloads, the 5700X more than hold it's own.
the only problem is the timing, the 5700X would've been a compelling option back in 2021, but now were heading into the fall months of 2022. that being said i do still think it's worth a look, but the 5800X3D i feel is in a bad spot price wise, considering the 5800X is just as fast if not faster in some cases, the price is much more competitive at $250 dollars where i live makes it a better buy.
