I went with the 6800H because of the huge price gap. Got my 6800H laptop with a big discount so the 6800H was just the better deal.

Who interested in top productivity on power limits?🤣
I will give my laptop as much power as it needs, just give me top productivity

Are you gonna play on max settings games in desert where no sockets around 10km?

Hi Jarrod, this video is fantastic. I have a favor to ask: Could you please do a quick "pre Black Friday" video for laptop buyers? I don't know if I should buy something now, wait for Black Friday, wait for Cyber Monday, or wait for the next generation of processors (unless I suddenly need a new laptop). For those of us who are a bit flexible, could you give us a quick update on where things stand? I worry about the 13th gen's power/heat, and I don't really understand what the latest laptops are going to do with heat, especially in a 1-thread per core application.

    Thanks?!

Jeez… I just bought a laptop with the 12500H in it and I am not excited on having to return it if the battery only lasts for 5 hours. I'd rather have a 5000 or 4000 series AMD then tbh because they state 10 hours or more of battery life.

    please reply,
    both specs almost same price.
    amd r7 6800+3070 OR intel i7 12700+3060.
which is the best fps for gaming, and less heat for the laptop..

so judging from my intel 9750h i can confidently say, that the biggest difference can be viewed in the heat, the CPU heat is also mostly dictated by the GPU, and since laptop manufacturers are constantly ignoring the fact, that they need to think of a more intelligent cooling design for their GPUs, so in fact, all laptops that are not manufactured either with their hardware behind the screen instead of behind the keyboard, or focus on a better cooling method for their gpus, that emphasizing independant heating pipes for the GPUs, these CPU tests are mostly obsolete.
You can take any ryzen 4000-7000 CPU and it will consume less energy, run longer and generate less heat, and hence increase its overall endurance vs any Intel 8750h to 12700h.
That, because the performance difference you ultimately will see in laptops is depending on the GPU, specifically on the cooling of the GPU independant from the CPU.

In a laptop, especially a high-end one. You're only looking for so much power with portability so battery life is going to always be king. As far as what's important then everything else is second to that.

Hello, would the AMD be better for video editing? I really want to buy legion laptop. Intel i9 battery performance is ass. I see you comparted both of them , premier and da Vinci and the by score you mean the ability to perform? Like will amd work fine for rendering videos? I don't do a lot of gaming but I do editing. What do think is AMD good choice for me?

not one mention about the 6800h's integrated gpu absolutely slaughtering the 12700h's iris pro. Not to mention the I7 as to pull a metric crap ton more power to beat out amd. You seem pretty bias towards intel here….

i heard amd processors run hotter, so why are they more power efficient ? especially when 12 gen intel has some lower cores just for that, for less intensive tasks…..

    November 14, 2022 - 9:32 pm

I believe that when buying a laptop, not a desktop, it's more important the performance per watt than comparing only performance in an ideal case scenario with water cooling. That's why I already bought a laptop with 6800H.

So, I cant find any intel i7 with a rtx 3060 (only with 3050ti) at the same price as one ryzen 7 with also a rtx 3060
Is it worth it sacrificing cpu for a way better graphic card?
    For laptops.

For those confused about the CPU alphabets in the back:
.H (High Performance) – usually consumes more power

.U (Ultra-low power) – more battery efficient, consumes less power, seen in laptops

    .Q (Quad-core)

.G3/G5/G7 (Integrated graphic card – higher the better integrated graphic card performance)

    .F (No integrated graphics card)

    .X (High number of cores)

.K (Allow overclocking – but usually means it may easily overheat)

.P (New terminology for the Intel Core 12th gen, means that CPU has "big/small" multicore)

Excellent video Jarrod. Absolutely nailed it.
I am planning to buy a laptop and a bit confused between ryzen 7 6800h (vivobook pro 15 oled) vs ryzen 9 5900hx (rog 9 strix g15 2022). My work is usually around an intermediate level video editing, designing and am planning to learn after effects now as well. Could you please point me to a right direction?

This is why it's good to look at multiple reviews. HardwareUnboxed didn't talk about battery life at all since he didn't have the hardware. His video paints the 6800H as a disappointment. The battery life test in this video is insane and a major deal-breaker considering its for portable devices. 10 vs 5 hours is ridiculous
