March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmWhen Georges Lemaître first proposed the Big Bang theory in the 1920s, there was a major backlash among many in the physics community—including Albert Einstein—who accused these physicists of importing a religious concept into science. He was harshly criticized for denying that the universe was infinitely old, and his detractors charged that he was trying to support Aquinas’ arguments for God. Atheist Fred Hoyle hated the idea so much he called it the “Big Bang” and the name stuck. This eminent British astronomer Fred Hoyle, who denied the Big Bang theory to his death in 2001 claimed:
“The reason why scientists like the “big bang” is because they are overshadowed by the Book of Genesis. It is deep within the psyche of most scientists to believe in the first page of Genesis.”
[ Comment made in a BBC interview ]
Such a comment seems ridiculous to us now given the widespread acceptance of the Big Bang theory. But it betrays the primal fear that the ocean of irrationality could still swallow the tiny island of reason called science. Science is still in its rebellious adolescence, and it must be wary of falling back into its childish state of obedience.

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmI guess Fred Hoyle would have been favoured in his reseach applications as much as Halton Arp was. Don't think outside that box, it won't get funded AND if you produce observational results which conflict with the accepted norm, they won't get published. What a wonderful science research paradigm we have. Put that together with so called 'business leads' as University VCs and you can see that the influence of money is the key driver of research. Watson and Crick wouldn't get a look in these days. Such a shame – the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
When you think about a big bang as the start of everything, it's a colossal leap of faith, but not only that, it also runs into huge complications with the observable evidence. So the best thing to to do is ignore the observable evidence right?
It won't be cleared up in my lifetime, but I feel strongly that if humans survive long enough, the marketing folks will 'do a job' on the big bang to make it seem like it was a small detour, which had to be considered, but it's now recognised that it does not fit well enough with the available evidence. – You can see where I'm going with this, no reckoning, no acknowledgement of the research railroad which has eaten up huge sums of taxpayer's money, and no damage to mainstream reputations. A self fulfilling machine which chews up and spits out all detractors in its trail. How did things get like this? Well, Fred gave a valuable insight – as usual.

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmHe coined the phase ‘ Big Bang’ as a scornful rhetoriic- because he was part of those scientist that always believed the universe was steady state and eternal. With the acceptance of the ‘ big bang’ it would mean that the Bible was correct from its first sentence. ‘ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth….’ And Gallilleo was a believer btw – don’t let them tell you otherwise – he was in a fight with the R.C Institution and they don’t have a monopoly on truth either. It meant the universe was created. In Science – you just discover what’s there already – quit strutting around like peacocks when you do – you bull headed atheist scientists. Your brain power is a pea in the ocean compared to your Creator.

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmI still believe in Mr. Hoyle's steady state theory…the big bang has so many problems, the biggest of which science keeps having to invent new particles or matter to make the theory keep working…all particles that so far we have not been able to detect or figure out what they are. I think that we are interpreting the red shift and the cosmic microwave background wrong…Could I be wrong? Absolutely. However, the whole big bang theory seems to (In my eyes) be predicated on an awful lot of "Guesses", educated guesses for sure, but I believe we need to focus on the red shift and see if its possible that the red shift is something other than expansion.

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmMuch of what Free Hoyle said is true. Just like centuries ago, instead of having the influence of “.the church”, just substitute “The Government”. I do not accept “the Big Bang”, it is nonsensical. Hubble’s red-shift is not the result of an expanding universe, but of energy converting back to matter over distance. Hence, resulting in a steady state universe. The “expanding” universe is an illusion just as is a “flat earth” and geocentric universe are.

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmI got a lot of insight form a small fact that every physicist probably learns at the start of their career. If you had a box of gas and found all the molecules bunched together in one corner you would say that it had low entropy and, if you continued to watch, you would expect to see entropy increasing as the molecules became more evenly distributed in space. The interesting insight was when I learned that entropy increases during gravitational collapse. A planet or a star therefore has high entropy and its entropy increases as objects fall into it. In retrospect, this seems obvious but I may never have got round to thinking about it unless it had been pointed out to me by Roger Penrose. A black hole is the ultimate high entropy state. The singularity at the start of the big bang, presuming that this every happened, is not therefore equivalent to a black hole with all the mass of the universe. The singularity must have had mega amounts of negative entropy, which is the opposite of a black hole. The universe is driven by its negative entropy, which increases continuously. Where did all the negative entropy of the universe come from? Fred's hypothesis, if I understand it correctly, is that negative entropy is continuously created in all places at all times as the universe expands. It just pops into existence in the void. This is no more fantastic than that if it pops into existence at the big bang. However, Fred's hypothesis is at least testable, in principle. If Fred was around today, I would be very interested to hear his thoughts on dark matter and energy.

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmIt is a good point that it is hard to go against popular scientific thinking. I admire Sir Fred Hoyle for holding to his view that the big bang theory is not correct. The distribution of galaxies in the universe could not have formed from a uniform cloud of gas and dust. The galaxies are individually too isolated and when you study the distribution of galaxies in detail the result is inconsistent with the big bang theory. See Appendix 1:

March 28, 2023 - 12:08 pmFirst of all, it is a straw man to put zeros in sight, any person can imagine that these series overload the human brain.
And the second thermodynamic law can be refuted with the following statement, "everything that can happen will happen."
A fact is clear, "there is life," there are two possibilities how it originated, in the time between the Big Bang and a point that lies between the Big Bang and the now or a creator, the chance that it existed before the Big Bang, you can't put so many zeros in succession and the second thermodynamic law would make this impossible
First, let's take the first fact, no matter how many zeros you place, you can immediately strip away half, take space with 4.5 billion white balls and put a red one in between, the chance that you will grab the red ball in a long time is fifty percent.
And if you assume that only surrounding white balls have a form of memory, the chance of second time is 16 times greater, this way the chance is more than acceptable than a creator.
The chance of a creator without beginning or end is zero, why, who taught him that he is the creator. Calculate the probability that a creator has always been there and would always remain, bearing in mind that he must be equipped with all knowledge of the infinite. If you read the last sentence, you feel the nonsense of this statement. A creator cannot be without a beginning, after all, he would not know about his own existence.
With probability after the Big Bang, you will come to a solution. In any case, the assumption is much more evidence-sensitive than a creator.
