February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI'd be afraid to ever break down my High Standard to this extent. I'd probably never get it back together again. Very informative.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI just inherited the high standard m101. Thanks for the video. However I canβt remove the plunger that is also holding the safety. FYIβ¦ the gun was out of service for years and dirty. Most pins were hell to remove. The trigger was broken as well. Any tricks to remove that plunger? I see parts I can replace but all for nothing if I canβt remove that piece. Whatβs its function?

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmFor feed or ejector issues with these (and other Hi Standards) try another brand of ammo. I have owned many, and they've all been partial to CCI or Remington shells. When replacing a magazine, they often require some "tuning" before the mag will ramp the ammo properly. Still shooting Grandpa Tommy's old M-101 that he bought new in 1956. It'll still pop the eye out of a squirrel, if you're that kind of marksman. Fine video! Thanks!

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmHi Jim, I just got a Duramatic M101 and I'm working on getting it to cycle properly. After cleaning, most issues are magazine related, but there are some failures to extract. Looks like the extractor is held in place with a blind pin. I don't see how to take it out. What's your take on this?

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI have number if High-Standards, and the Duramatic is one of my favorites. I got a super deal on at a gun shop/pawn shop because they couldn't get it to function. I saw that it had the wrong type of H-S magazine in it. I gave them $90 , put the correct magazine it, and now have a pristine gun in 90% condition. I especially like the H-S revolvers. I have J.C. HIggins .22 that was actually made by H-S, and it very accurate gun.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI have a HS duramatic. How would I decrease the trigger pull?
Thanks

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmVideo was great but I wish the camera was tighter on the parts. I couldn't see which pin you took out first. Light could have been brighter

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmThere are a lot of these guns for sale, if they took it apart and don't know what they're doing it's damaged.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmStill looking for an old High Standard Pistol….but NOT that one… I prefer the GB.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI got one of these dra-matic .22, I rarely use her but the shells seem to get caught in a 45 degree angle and jams. The gun is in mint condition and very clean. It is probably the rounds, is their any recommended shell you have in mind for this gun. ThanksΒ

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmSrbija575…. If given a choice – go with the Colt… Or the High Standard. – yes I'm biased towards the older classics. They're classic for a reason….. Just saying.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI have a high standard duramatic that won't eject the shell after being fired. What should I try replacing?

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmHey Jim. I've owned a HS Trophymatic in the 80s and was the most accurate gun I've ever shot but they closed shop in Hamden and went to Texas. I once purchased a high standard about three years ago and it shot very bad. I saw one the other day that was made in Hamden Conn.. What should I look for before I buy this gun to possibly help me be assured that's it's accurate? They want 699 for it and that's a big chance to buy this gun because once I do it's mine. Thank you.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmHey do you know if the trigger pin is a taper pin? I have one to fix for my father in law and I can not get that pin out, the trigger is very stiff so I am worried someone drove a pin into it that didn't belong.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmI was wondering if you could make a video of field stripping a Hi-Standard 22 long rifle Supermatic Citation model 104. My grandfather passed away a couple years ago and my grandmother gave me his Hi-Standard. I want to clean and oil the gun so it doesn't rust… I have fired the pistol and it is oiled but hasn't been cleaned or maintained for years. This is a pistol I will pass on to my children.

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmReally informative and straight forward was looking how to field strip and clean a high standard supermatic citation model 104 but enjoyed the info anyway, haven't checked out your other videos but I plan to subscribe… Thanks

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmThis clip really helped me out a ton…I have it all stripped down, media blasted and getting it prepped for a refinish. The extractor was easy to replace as it is real similar to many .22 automatics so figured it out myself…thanks for the help!

February 17, 2023 - 8:36 pmAwesome work…any video on how to replace the extractor? Just bought one and a new spring/plunger and I don't want to F it up…

I've often said it before, and I'll mention it again — if you could learn the designs of the three Johns, John Browning, John Thompson, and John Garand — you might have just about 80 % of the world's gun designs pretty well mastered. Now there are a few other oddball designs you'll have to figure out too, but not too many of them are too different. Gunsmithing is about 2 years of school and a lifetime of learning. I always learn new things constantly….
