May 6, 2024 - 3:01 pmI enjoyed the video, and as always I appreciate your efforts in transparency and breaking down taboos, I love that. One thing that fascinates me when it comes to the Youtubers I follow is the contract between those that make humorous or gaming content that are used to and rely on being monetized and it sucks when they get demonetized, and those like Ask a Mortician or you who make videos about topics that just…never get monetized? Especially Ask a Mortician, Caitlyn being used to it ever since she started making videos about death and corpses and making money via other channels like Patreon is strangely inspiring to me. I'm glad you are able to lead a good life with such a stable income and even hire people, that's amazing and inspires me to try and do the same, at least to try posting videos I think would help others on YouTube. Thank you for your content, I really appreciate your values and spirit!

I did find the fact that a friend with lower views is making much more money, could this be due to the fact that the tech advertisers are paying more than the type of advertisers that are targeting your audience?

May 6, 2024 - 3:01 pmThis is great way how to talk about money. Speaking about proportions makes more sense and creates a clearer picture. Throwing around amount of money doesn't really matter because it is not guaranteed.

May 6, 2024 - 3:01 pmI ran a YT channel a few years back doing Microsoft / Linux tutorials. I found the more sponsored / brad deal videos I did the less views I got. There needs to be a fine balance with sponsored / brad deal videos. To many can affect your channel.

I can understand why you don't want to reveal how much you make for sponsored videos now, but in the spirit of breaking taboo, can you give ballpark values of how the amount you charged or expected for sponsored content or affiliates as your channel grew?

I do have a question, would you talk about how you work with a manager + how your less social media heavy work money negotiation stuff works? (E.g. your books!) Coming from the perspective of a freelancer here (photographer) π our uni is pushing working with a manager, but as a self-employed person that seems like a big step!
Also, would you talk about how you manage diversifying your revenue streams? Because from a mental (+physical) health and time management perspective, that seems like it could be a big stressor.
