August 17, 2022 - 8:12 amProbably a dumb question but when you finish putting on the poly gel nails, do you have to apply a base coat to the top in order to start painting a color or design and stuff? or do you just go right to painting without a base coat (like does the poly gel nail act as a base coat? I can't seem to find an answer as most tutorials stop right after the nail is applied lol

August 17, 2022 - 8:12 amLady's. I'm a retired nail tech. Every thing takes practice. I also didn't receive instructions either. It's not well done of the supplier.
Always makes sure your hands and nails are clean before applying. I know this is common sense. Although many forget because people get excited. When prepping nails after the first buff to get shine off, quickly clean with rubbing alcohol, it makes sure the nail is dry and there are no germs in the nails. Also helps with better adhesion of the gels and the nail. Just a little trick I picked up in the salon. Also make sure your nail is completely sealed all the way around. If not water, shampoo, condition, dish soap, laundry soap ect can get between your nail and the fake and grow mold. Always make sure you inspect your nails after a week if wear for any lift. If there is lift clean with rubbing alcohol let dry and seal with nail glue or replace the nail. If you have any questions ask. Better to ask then run into problems in the future. Please understand I'm not trying to take any attention away from the lady in the video. As a retired nail tech I don't want to see any one have trouble with they're nails. All you should feel is beautiful, confident secure etc. Remember your are beautiful.

I cant have my nail length long because they look so weird and I usually just get the squared shape because I feel like all the others would look weird also. Do you have any recommendations?

I bought a kit and didn't have time to do a practice run before my boyfriend's niece came over because he told her and asked me to do her's for her wedding Saturday. Ended up using some of my fake nails and painting them (blue to match her dress). She's thrilled with them and her fiance yanked off his shirt and yelled, "SCRATCH MY BACK! OOOOHHHH! YYYEEEAAAAHHHH! THAT'S IT!" (something I didn't need to witness altogether🤣💀) They're both happy, so I guess it's a win 😂
