January 23, 2024 - 8:43 amA great spin on Wynncraft! I think the last thing you might want is making sure leveling is both limiting and engaging. Wynncraft limits access to items, weapons, armor, quests, and locations by levels. Breath of the Wild makes this feel more engaging by, instead of just locking it, making it feel "natural." You need a paralider, or winter wear, or women's clothing to enter these areas, all requiring quests that might be at the end of a longer questline in your game that would also necessitate gaining levels, making it feel less restrictive while not being so. For items, you could make something "heavy" and slow you down until you get a higher strength stat. For magic items, it makes sense that you would need to "learn" magic by gaining levels, so its internally consistent. You don't need to absolutely follow internal consistency, you can break that but mask it sometimes through these ways.
Also, make it very difficult on lower levels so you can't enter unless you've either gained enough levels, or are one of those speedrunners who does low level challenges. It can easily feel aimless, but in Wynncraft or BOTW you immediately have a goal, "I want to wear this cool armor piece, I better go questing/looting." Etc.
Finally, endgame content. Whenever people start getting too powerful, you can always set up a "sell your soul to try your hand at fighting the dragon king" challenge where people need to, say, lose all of their levels for a singular shot at taking on that giant dungeon in the middle of the map, or on some island you can add whenever you want. There's no rush to do this, it might become available when a lot of people get late game.

1) the "mmo" part is completely non obtrusive; you quite literally can just play minecraft and build and what not.
2) there is a completely (for now at least…) player ran economy with an auction house. You can not buy in game currency. This is pretty cool, would be incredibly easy for jera to sell out here, so im holding my breath for now lol.
3) there are some incredible user builds lol. If you enjoy server builds like on 2b2t, this is a great server to at least look around from time to time. Krobar01 would blush at some builds lol.
4) the community management is nice. Ive played similar servers before. You know the deal -> power tripping mods and some stupid white knighting sycophantic mini mods trying to ruin your experience. The management here is quality; if you act like an adult youre treated like one. If you act like a child… lol. Community is reasonably mature, theres obviously a few tweenagers but its not a problem.
5) player builds are "claim" based, though you are allowed to build freely if youre short on claims [you get daily rewards that let you slowly build out an empire π]. Redstone is only limited to no tnt duping, which is reasonable.
All in all 8-9/10 user experience for my first 50 hours here. I normally play on 2b2t; as i just like the complete freedom and excitement of it (threat of loss) but this server is legitimately great
