April 21, 2024 - 3:02 pmI am fairly new to trading, but what I learned so far is indicators can be helpful BUT there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First is that indicators are LAGGING in nature, meaning they show you WHAT HAPPED, and not necessarily WHAT WILL HAPPEN, so in this way you are better focusing on price action itself, what is happening NOW. Second, I have found the most basic tools to be the most effective which is Trend-lines and support and resistance levels. I think the MOST important tool I have learned so far is YOU MUST manage your risk to reward ratios, for example risk 1:3 or 1:2 or 1:1, you do this buy putting your stop-loss and sticking to it no matter what, if you risk 100 to make 200 or 300 you will make money consistently if you have a relatively good strategy. If you do stupid shit like not having a stop loss set, or removing it when price starts to go down because hope prices will bounce back up soon.. this is when you start losing more and more without control! Put in your damn stop losses! Also I would just avoid short selling especially if you are a beginner, it is inherently more risky especially in the long run, as prices tend to go up in the markets over the long run anyways. The last tip is: DO NOT RISK MORE THAN %1-%2 of your account per trade, the reason for this is that statistically speaking, YOU WILL have unlucky says, no matter how good of a trader you are, and if you are risking %20 of your account with every trade; you are only 5 bad trades away from blowing your account! Trading is a marathon NOT a sprint. Keep learning from the best, and keep practicing. And if you are just starting out, take 2-3 months practicing on a paper account before you ever risk real money π°. Good luck fellow traders! April 21, 2024 - 3:02 pmI have winning trading bots on ninja trader. What he has here is a pretty decent start to a winning strategy but heβs missing some key elements. I would incorporate previous day and current day OPEN/high/low/close levels and reference them to determine larger trend. I would also apply another form of larger trend filtering by using atr trailing stops and upping the length and standard deviation. You can then determine if the day is a trending day or range bound day. I would also pick only one or two markets and tune the bot to a specific time frame for each. Also price behaves differently on the short side then it does on the long side so I would adjust accordingly to maximize profits and have different settings for long and short. Some of my startegies look for trending criteria, while others look for range bound criteria in direction of the trend. I have multiple bots with 60-75% win rates and 1.5 to 2 times reward versus risk. Itβs possible to have winning bots but you have to properly backrest them over long periods of time to get a true winning strategy. Some startegies may look like the holy grail over the course of a couple months but then fail miserably when market conditions change. You have to understand that the market goes through very long cycles, and I would backrest the strategy a minimum of 4 years back, but preferred up to 10 years or more. And have multiple strategies that work well in different conditions all running at the same time so that they hedge themselves in a way. Never put all of your eggs in 1 basket. Iβve since moved on to NinjaTrader and have developed several winning strategies there. Will update my site with information over the course of the next year.
