What do you guys think about the 8 core, 32 ram and 1 tb for music production?

So, is the battery life about 3 or 4 hours?

  • Vipin Yadav

    November 6, 2022 - 1:50 pm

    So, 6 high-efficiency core is 25% slower than 8 high-efficiency core which exactly the same 25% less core. 2/8 = 25%.
Thank you for post scores. So, buying an 8 core M1 pro is not a bad deal at all.

I want the 20% performance but not the extra 1000rpm fan noise. I can run a 264 to 265 1080p transcode on handbrake and i cannot hear the fans on my 8 core 14โ€

Which one is a better option in terms of performance,
    MacBook Pro 8-core M1 (16GB/512GB) or
    MacBook Air 8-core M2 (16GB/256GB) ??

Both have same display size (13") and price.

buying a computer with only 16gb ram in 2022 just feels wrong…doesn't it? I think I need 32. I mean I'm a software dev, so if I do want to run a bunch of virtual machines, it will come in handy. Plus I like doing a lot of stuff at once. Two instances of VS code, one android studio, one xcode, plus 100 web browser tabs seems likely, plus VMs and servers running in the background….yeah I think I'm gunna play it safe at 32, even if most of the time I won't exceed 16, the reduced swap usage will be better on battery life I think

NOTHING FOR DEVELOPERS??? REEE!!! I do think that a significant amount of us looking at these machines will be using them for coding

Thanks for sharing. Did you also compare the 14" M1 Pro 8 CPU and 10 GPU with the 14" M1 Pro 10 CPU and 16 GPU?

Because those are the options shown now on the Apple website….

    Any video comparing those?

These machines have identical GPUs, the only difference is in the CPUs.
proceeds to compare only the GPUs ๐Ÿ˜‚
Sorry, but you only had one job, to compare the CPUs by doing some CPU tasks… but I guess it's not relevant :))

Excellent comparison. Iโ€™m going for the base m1 pro with the 8core because Iโ€™m using it for productivity/coding/everything else. Iโ€™m a non photo editor or video editing consumer. You still can do those but it will lag a bit. Apple silicon m1 and m1 pro max are the most powerful chips on consumer based computers ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป ๐Ÿ’ป for now..

Instead of saying left or right can you just specifically say 8 core or 10 core? We can't see the screen of the laptop from half the angles you use in this video, so we can't even use the background color of the screen to figure out which is which. For future reference, especially since the m2 is coming out this year

During the CPU temperature section both screens are showing 2 efficiency cores and 8 performance cores and the two GPU clusters are listed as having 8 cores on both as well, not 7 on the left hand machine.

On my 8 core m1 pro I also get 8 performance cores listed instead of 6 but the GPU clusters say 7 not 8. Any ideas ?

I want to buy an iMac. Can someone please make me understand more about these? what's the difference between the 27 inch and 24 inch? I see the 27 inch still has the apple logo, why? is it older? I see the 27 inch model doesn't have the M1 inside. Why? which one is faster? the new 24 inch or the new 27 inch? the 24 inch seems to be able to upgrade up till more than 100 GB RAM but the 24 model only 16??? whats the difference between the 27 and 24? which one to buy? is that 8 GB or ram that important? are these upgradable ? can I add more ram in time? I really have no idea. Im new to Mac and I would like to buy one but I don't find a lot of info and their website isn't that complex filled with info. Is pretty empty actually.
