This was done for the company, unfortunately and not the employees. they are secondary in the decision made here.

Twitter is not a public utility, you want it to be, then vote on it and take it to court, and expropriate it… and if that doesn't work, take it to court… and if that doesn't work, by the time things are settled another social media hellscape will have taken over.

February 1, 2023 - 6:16 pmI love that Musk fan boys are so supportive of his mass firings as though he has a clue as to what it is that he has bought and what he is doing. Either Twitter was a business that was worth investing in, or it wasn't, any one can wreck a business.
Musk claimed he was buying Twitter not to make money, but he seems to be focussing in on reducing Twitter's overheads and not developing the platform. Does anyone think that Twitter will be improved by shedding the majority of the staff.
Can Tesla afford to have its senior engineers seconded to review Twitter code, haven't they got Full Self Driving to sort out?
As for the "it's only $8 a month", "free" and "almost free" are not the same, how many Facebook users would pay a $8 a month fee? Twitter needs users as it users that attract advertising and advertisers that fund business.
Any fool can see that Twitter's business model was tenuous, and Musk hasn't yet offered an original idea on how he will make it a viable business.
