October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amImagine you're AMD and you release the RX 6950 XT in May 2022 and then five months later Nvidia reveals this monster.
Lmao.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amWouldn't setting a frame cap in the NVIDIA control panel help with the issues caused by bottlenecks?

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amwhat’s up with the occasional scrambled picture during benchmarks? capture card shenanigans?

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amI don't like the way graphics are going, it's like we are getting tricky imagery compensation instead of a genuine increment in pure horsepower like we use to get before; it is sad from my point of view, and hope this isn't the limits of graphic performance cause I wouldn't like a future when the only playable experience isn't on sharps natives resolutions but on blurry full of latency graphics.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amI was able to order one from Amazon yesterday, currently says it won't arrive until Nov 7-9 though. I'm shocked I was able to order one at all I usually have horrible luck trying to get something high in demand. I will be playing everything at native 4K with settings and RT maxed out probably. My display is only 120Hz so I feel like there's no point in turning DLSS on to go above that. Plus I have an 11900k not 12900k and I don't want my CPU bottlenecking anything. I might turn some settings down in games like CP.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amJust imagine what the 5090 will do in a couple of years…

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amcan you do a CPU & RAM scaling with 4090? I'm most interested in 5800X3D DDR4 & DDR5 vs 12900KS DDR4 & DDR5 vs 7700X DDR5, maybe throw in 5950X while you're at it 🙂

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amIt doesn't matter how powerful it is, for what games can it be used, that would utilize the full power.
Not buying any cards until the next gta and elder scroll comes out.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amDon't forget the 1000-1500$ 4K G-Sync screen you need for 4090.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amThe thing is when Games will use this Card there will already be a new Card.
What PCs really need is good Games.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amI mostly play AAA games on 1440p. Is it worth upgrading to RTX 4090 from 6800 XT? CPU is 5900X.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amWhat’s interesting to me is that with frame generation, you only should get an extra Ai frame every two traditionally rendered frames, but if you pause and look at spider-man, around 18:05 that math would take 95 fps and turn it to 145 or so, but they’re getting closer to a straight doubling of 95. I know it could just be from different and my math could be wrong, very well could be, but 45 fps seems high for margin of error. Wonder what else could be happening here. Like if Ai frame generation is taking stress away from the cpu in some way.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amAt msrp I for see the 40XX cards being a good deal. I've more than gotten my money's worth out of my 1080ti and this finally seems like a worthy class of card to upgrade to.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amI know DLSS 3 is more advanced and with a lot less latency, but the artificial frames are essentially the same as turning on motion smoothing on your TV, youll deal with artifacts. If you're a couch based pc gamer on a TV like me, and cant afford the 4090 just turn whatever settings on your tv uses to give that "soap opera" effect, lol (this is not a serious comment)

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amJohn, how would it manage to put 144fps on the screen when DP 1.4 only allows for 120 fps at 4k?
BucDan
October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amWhy is frame interpolation accepted as true frame rate and included in the numbers? It's dishonest marketing. You never see people watching a 24fps movie interpolate to 120fps, then say they're watching a 120fps movie.
Everyone is calling it more fps. Calling it smoother is one thing, but calling it more real fps is a lie.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amwith all due respect.. Lets call a spade a spade.. you are being used by Nvidia to shill for a paper launch product.
The founders Edition is a paper launch.. so all this is moot.
the very few that existed off BestBuy where 100% snatched by Bot Scalpers and dumped on Ebay for $2,500

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amI think it'd be a total waste of money to purchase a 4090 anytime soon unless you're a game developer (I'm aiming to be currently).

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amThe last rig I built was back in 2016, using a GTX 1080 FE. At that time, the gains over previous generations were significant and allowed me to really enjoy then-current gen games in a way that my Xbox One and PS4 could never approach (21:9 aspect ratio, FOV sliders, nearly 60 FPS at ultrawide-HD, and so on).
It was pricey at the time, costing about $500, if I remember correctly.
Today, with so few games taking advantage of the Series X I own, at $500, I cannot rationalize why I would spend nearly $2,000 for a 4090, much less $1000 for a 3090ti, to play the same damn games, at similar fidelity.
It's not a question as to whether I can afford the card, but rather a question of whether it makes any real sense to do so, given the current state of gaming and the fact that I'm content with my Series X at the moment.
Buying one of these just feels… irresponsible. I don't want to encourage this kind of pricing for a consumer-grade PC component dedicated to playing games.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amyou know where in the next generation of cards when digital foundry uses "joules per frame" instead of "frames per second"

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amEverywhere I see the tests are done on older games which is fair as no new titles with UE5 have come out yet so wonder what 4090 will be able to do on those titles (Callisto Protocol/Black Myth/Gray)!!

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 am1440p is perfect for me, with the 3070. These 40 series are overkill.

October 15, 2022 - 7:01 amCan you do a video on the quality of the image produced by DLSS3, I get that it gives an extra 40% frames but how good are those frames?
