April 13, 2024 - 3:03 amI'm embarrassed for Ishido here: why would Lady Ochiba the most powerful woman in Japan, a widow free of any man, want to lose power by marrying again? The tragedy of Ishido is that while he is extremely competent enough to be a self-made man, rising from poverty to daimyo status, Ishido is a bureaucratic genius but not a natural leader like Toranaga. He's basically the brilliant administrator #3 guy trying to be the #1 guy. If Ishido knew his place, he'd be the Japanese 17th century equivalent of the President's chief of staff, or a cabinet member like Secretary of Commerce or whatever.

I see why she's so terrifying, too. She has to be. Ishido and the court would eat her alive.
Imagine, a man like Nobunaga had everything taken away from him in a matter of minutes, hours, however long Honon-ji was, Ochiba would lose everything just as quick

The role of a pretty woman who likes to eat is completely different from OCHIBA.
Her acting is excellent.

Ishido=royaltyで有名な侍だけどloveの感情があったかどうか難しい歴史解釈でしょう

Gladly it's just a fantasy story, in real life, women in Japan has no place on that time, not even a queen

April 13, 2024 - 3:03 amI think Takehiro Hira's depiction of Ishido is AMAZING! I've loved Hira since I saw him in 2013 Go Taiga drama, and he was also amazing in Giri Haji. So glad he got a big role in Shogun.
