In recent years, the internet has been flooded with self-proclaimed gurus and experts claiming to have the secret to making tens of thousands of dollars a month online. One of the most prominent of these figures is Kevin David, a former Amazon employee who made a name for himself by selling courses and coaching on how to succeed as an Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) seller.

But behind the flashy YouTube ads, the lavish lifestyle, and the seemingly perfect Instagram posts, lies a web of deception that has left many of Kevin David’s former students feeling scammed and betrayed.

The journey to the Kevin David scandal began in 2017, when he launched his flagship course, Amazon FBA Ninja. The course promised to teach students how to start and grow an FBA business, with the possibility of making thousands of dollars per month. It was priced at $1,997, and included access to a private Facebook group where students could ask questions and receive support.

Many people signed up for the course, drawn in by Kevin’s charismatic personality and seemingly impressive track record as a successful Amazon seller. But as they began to delve deeper into the course materials, they started to notice red flags.

Some students reported that the information provided in the course was outdated or inaccurate, and that Kevin seemed more interested in selling his other courses than actually helping his students succeed. Others complained that the private Facebook group was filled with aggressive upselling and advertisements for Kevin’s other programs.

Despite these initial concerns, many students persevered, hoping to find the secrets to Amazon FBA success that Kevin promised would be revealed. But as time went on, more and more students began to feel that they had been scammed.

Some discovered that Kevin’s personal Amazon seller account had been suspended, raising questions about his supposed expertise in the field. Others found that the testimonials and success stories featured on his website and social media accounts were fake, with actors hired to play the role of satisfied customers.

One former student, who asked to remain anonymous, shared her experience with me. She had signed up for Amazon FBA Ninja in 2018, hoping to launch her own successful FBA business.

“At first, everything seemed great,” she said. “We had access to a private Facebook group where we could ask questions and get support, and Kevin seemed really knowledgeable.”

But as time went on, the student started to notice inconsistencies in the information provided by Kevin and his team.

“I remember asking a question about taxes in the Facebook group,” she said. “And someone from Kevin’s team gave me completely incorrect advice. I ended up having to pay a lot of money to fix the mistake they had made.”

The student also reported feeling pressured to buy additional courses and coaching from Kevin, even though she had already paid nearly $2,000 for Amazon FBA Ninja.

“They kept telling us that we needed to invest in ourselves if we wanted to be successful,” she said. “But it felt like they were just trying to take more of our money without actually providing any value.”

As the complaints from former students piled up, Kevin David remained mostly silent. He continued to post photos and videos of his luxurious lifestyle, which included exotic vacations, expensive cars, and designer clothes.

But in October of 2020, the Kevin David scandal was thrust into the spotlight. A former student named Mike Winnet posted a YouTube video exposing Kevin’s alleged scams and lies.

Mike claimed to have conducted an investigation into Kevin’s business practices, and found evidence that Kevin had faked his own Amazon FBA success, hired actors to play the role of satisfied customers, and pressured students into buying additional courses and coaching.

The video quickly went viral, and Kevin David found himself facing a barrage of criticism and backlash. He initially responded with a lengthy blog post defending himself and his business, but the post was quickly debunked by other members of the Amazon FBA community.

Kevin then posted a video apology on YouTube, in which he admitted to making mistakes and pledged to do better in the future. But for many of his former students, the damage had already been done.

In the aftermath of the scandal, some former Kevin David fans have turned to other internet gurus, while others have become disillusioned with the entire industry. But the Kevin David scandal serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of blindly following self-proclaimed experts, and the importance of doing research and due diligence before investing in any sort of coaching or educational program.
