The new era of positive psychology | Martin Seligman

Men, when he said that the most happy persons are those who are very social, that really did hit me, because I'm experiencing a lot of happiness since I begun being more social at my own home, thing that I was not very much back then. I'm slowly making true connections with my family. Kkk the person that I'm finding more hard to do this is my brother, Lukas, but I know that I'm gonna succeed with him the same way I did with my other brother, Maicon.

Positive Psychology is definitely our pathway to The Meaningful & Fulfilled Life. Maslow coined the phrase Positive Psychology many years before Martin Seligman. Maslow was absolutely light years ahead of his time. Seligman also based his PERMA model on Maslow's work. I am a Positive Psychology Practitioner and I can honestly say that this is the way forward in psychological wellbeing, especially with regard to post-pandemic mental health.

We already understand misery. And rehashing the same negative experiences over and over again makes misery worse. Time to get SMART and study HAPPINESS. Actively teaching "victimhood", is NOT productive, positive or empowering. We know mental illness, we know diseases, we know negativity. Dr.Gabormate is MISERY itself. He's dreadfully grim and useless when it comes to GETTING BETTER. Positive psychology is PRODUCTIVE, HEALTHY, AND HEALING!! Anyone that hypnotizes you into victimhood is not there to help you. They are there to make you hopeless, make you feel WEAK and dependent on them/society. I hope more USEFUL psychologists can progress and help society by studying POSITIVE psychology. Because so far, many are creating dependency, so they have continuous $$$$clients. People LOVE feeling sorry for themselves, they LOVE hearing that they are a victim and nothing is their fault-its a highly marketable (and manipulative) practise that disempowers people and perpetuates the cycle of oppression.

This isn't modern psychology, this is modern snake oil from a questionable researcher, animal abuser and advisor on failed modern torture techniques like water boarding.

I'll trust exactly 0 people with 7 children, thanks. This isn't a person it's a walking eugenicist with an ego that could block out the sun.

You know, the source of the problem is tracked then it won't come right? Psychology and Neuroscience is great, but being aware… Of the sources of mental illnesses, will it not help?
    But how to do that….
What is the CAUSE of all this? Maybe it can…. ultimately boil down to:
    1) Parenting issues and style, hence genetics,
    2) Grief or loss,
    .
WHAT is the reason for the chemical imbalance in the brain? Don't you think people weren't I'll so often in the past? So many people these days! They don't deserve to suffer, i tell you.
Parents with mental illnesses/ personality disorders may be one of the direct factors that affect the mental health of children, hence they grow up, suffering the symptoms, and marry, pass it down to the next gen.
We'd be lonely if we couldn't marry.

    That's it.

I have been drawn into this wonderful talk after reading aàbout " learned helplessnes " a term he invented why people don't jump the wall while in misery even if they know
that a good alternative is lying close to them.
This speech was rich enough. He has an awesome voice of a hypnotist, wisdom and energy.I just watched him during the talk.He was alwaya moving or walking. around.
More to learn from him.God bless you Sir.

I studied psychology on a hunch early in life, then got distracted by life. Professor Seligman definitely RE stimulated my interest in the science of psychology.😉 How many people here are aware of the unattractive history leading up to "Learned Optimism"? After witnessing and experiencing trauma through a series of events, as well as a unassuming professional who gave me a nudge, a light bulb went off. I indeed knew something that I didn't know that I knew. Then after observing learned helplessness in abuse victims as well as experiencing and witnessing recovery I am more interested in the science of the human spirit. Super intrigued. What wonderful possibilities!
