April 24, 2024 - 4:54 amI'm quietly interested in ArcheAge… we'll see how it goes. I loved a lot about Archeage, but the baked in PVP just drove me spare. The housing killed it for me. Why must every damn game insist on housing dog fights? Just let me build my damn house and decorate it how I want. 😒
Ugh Ghost had me right up until the shards and loot boxes. If the "procedural generation" occurs in small discrete instances that you choose to enter – like entering an instance in other MMOs then I'll give it a go. If it's "you don't want PVP so we'll stick you in this here little box until you learn to git gud" when I'm out. Also, the loot boxes immediately make me wish I'd never seen how awesome the teaser looks. I effing despise loot boxes and will absolutely shun an otherwise brilliant game JUST because of the loot boxes.
I'm both survivalled out, AND I'm definitely Blizzarded out, and I also HATE PVP – so I'll be skipping that one.
Project LLL looks too good to be true. If it actually looks and plays like that, I'd be surprised. I'm getting Anthem vibes and I really hope it doesn't follow in those dubious footsteps.
I don't mind Warframe, except for the constant cash shop BS. I know it's not pay to win, but they absolutely lean heavily into the exploitative use of FOMO. I hate that. I'll be watching to see how Soulframe pans out, but I'm expecting to play it for a few months then get jack of the monetisation.
Dune Awakening? PVP only Meh.
I'm quietly curious about Ashes of Creation… Not sure about the housing though… again, just let me build my damn house how and where I want. I'd prefer instanced housing than a constant baked in housing conflict or exorbitant pricing like FFXIV. Why can't there be more housing like Wildstar. Honestly, just an MMO with Wildstar flavour and humour, but with decent execution would be GREAT. I loved that game… until it came to the MMO aspects of the game lol.
Runeterra… Hmmm… I love the idea of it, but again the money is coming from some notorious pay to win/loot box devotees. I'm not here for that crap. Also, not really a fan of action combat. Again, Wildstar did it as right as it gets, but I really prefer tab targeting. I'm curious but we'll see.
Very curious about the ZOS project. Definitely be watching this one.

Each "Biome" is independent of the others, floating island worlds reminiscent of that old "turtle world" myth – Ghost has piqued my interest, as has Horizon and Once Human(4K/server looter shooter with SCP/SecretWorld flavor and Division mechanics)

April 24, 2024 - 4:54 amMy dream MMO is a seamless world, that lets you guild up, but solo also. If your character can morph in a way that no other can, a way to overpower against the world. I think City of Hero's is a good example of this.

Imo the balancing of class's to pander to dps meters ruins the holy trinity. A mage should rock face. However, a warrior built to tank should not be able top the charts. Just my 2 pennies. Lets just be honest… if its not Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls, Wow its gonna tank… BEST case scenario game has a TERRIBLE launch.. and 95% of population leaves after 1 month, game goes heavy P2W/F2P after 6 months. Servers shut down after 1 – 2 years…..
Unless your amazon, riot, blizzard, etc… You just dont have the bank to keep a dead game alive.
Soulframe will do well because they have learned alot from warframe and what NOT to do from Wayfinder.
all of that said.. outside of wow… having a like 10k concurrent playerbase is considered successful with MMO's nowadays… which is insane… basically the entire world is just playing COD or Fortnight for the rest of time

If the developer feels like they can make the game better in some way, but they need load screens to be able to increase playability for technical reasons, I tend to trust that the load screen was needed to provide a better game otherwise.

Dont get me wrong, never played WoW and never will unless it goes ftp so im not in favor for Wow over something else. Just stating a fact that it hasnt been done and nothing has come close.
Not sure why quinfall is even on the list and the only game that could come close to overtaking wow could be the Riot MMO. Of course all this is my opinion and by the time some of those come out WoW 2 will probably be announced, trumping everything, again.

April 24, 2024 - 4:54 amaww man…. the factions is what made Archeage 1 so damn good. why on earth would they do away with that? That just killed 80% of my excitement for that game. They are copying BDO's model which is a BAD model to follow. BDO is pretty but boring. Kinda like dating a hot girl that's very shallow vapid and superficial. It just lacks depth and complexity. AA1 was LEGENDARY in how good it was in Alpha and at launch before pay to win really kicked in. If they hadn't been so greedy that game would have beaten out World of Warcraft in number of players… it as THAT good.

The most exciting thing on this list is Archeage, but only if it was coming out with absolutely no pay to win, no endgame monetization, and if everything was obtainable endgame. Since the publisher is who it is, however… There is no way that’s happening. So it’s definitely going to be a pay to win mess. Sad times really.

Give me BDO combat, character creation, graphics, and profession path, with New World gathering and world impact while gathering, Elder Scrolls voice type questing, and WOW type Lore, with FFXIV type main character focus, and Light No Fire size world. With ArcheAge sea exploration and housing. Lost Ark epic fight scenes, and I would be happy. The problem is there is not one game with everything in it. Just look at what the Devs focus on, when they talk about base building, that will be the most polished. When they say seamless open world, that will be the focus, until I see a Dev say, "We made a world out of love". I know they will all fail, for most of the games I mentioned started out of a labour of love before they turned into cash grabs.
