Great show, thank you for all of the work on it and the reading suggestion. I loved the Marco Polo show as well and was very sad to see that not continue. This show however tops that one hands down. Truly love peek into the culture and the history.

If this work in Season 1 is modeled on the eve of Sekigahara, I would like them to create "Battle of Sekigahara", the internal conflict after the unification, "Winter Camp" and "Summer Camp" in Season 2.
After the novel was finished, Game of Thrones quickly created a script and produced an additional season.
It would be a shame if the Shogun ended after season 1.
The story gets interesting from now on.

I was hoping Mariko would live but the story is all the better since she finally gets what she wants in the end. Brilliant, brilliant writing, directing, costuming, lighting, everything was executed to the highest degree.

Just wow! What an episode, what performances, what emotions. Thank you! Here is my humble request. I wish the same team would make a feature length standalone episode just on the battle of Sekigahara, to show the epic and pivotal decisions etc made during the battle 🙏🙏

I'vr not been pleased with the writers changes from the book but the scene where Blackthorne came forward to act as Mariko's second was amazing. Both actors were incredible.

Anyone in Mariko's situation would fall in love with Blackthorne when he stepped up to second her. He is also Christian and doesn't most likely support seppuku culture and doesn't want her to do it. But he does it for her.

Anna absolutely killed this role. The sheer heart and soul she put into Mariko…just wow. An award is in order.

I really feel that the series should've been expanded to 2 seasons so we could've had more intimate and slice-of-life moments between the characters. It is still a masterpiece but it seems so rushed now that we're at the end. 😢

I always worry about adaptations of books that I love. But I loved what was done with this series. Gorgeous setting. Excellent performances and smart writing.

    Tragic.
Most of us have had to endure this moment 2 times in our lives . I'm guessing we'll get another dose in 20 years.
This show has been a class act from Episode One . The actor Tadanobu who plays Yubushige is phenomenally talented.
    RIP Mariko sama

What an episode. Was completely stunned at the end of it. So much deep stuff on how Mariko came to be who she is. The interactions between the cast were so beautifully done, so deeply emotional to watch. All the kimonos the women wear, so lovely to see that amount of detail in the clothing. Really enjoyed it.

The way the women speak while in public is very interesting. They always have this friendly and sweet tone regardless of context. Mariko is literally calling Ishido a peasant but she’s doing it in such a polite manner. I love this show!!!!!!
